Has anyone else had any trouble playing the fourth disk of the TTA set? The one that's double sided? Mine played fine the first time I watched it, but now it gets stuck about half way through, a little before I hit the Rainy Daze episode. (No, it's not scratched in any way.) I didn't have any trouble with it the first time I watched it, but that was on a different DVD player than I'm using now. It's rather annoying.
I really wish they hadn't made it double sided. I don't trust those things to last. But I want to know if this is a common problem and I should just learn to live with it, or if I should bother trying to get my set exchanged? I contacted someone at WB and they said they'd let me mail my set back and then mail me a new set, but I don't know if I should bother with it. If I do that, I could be without Tiny Toons DVDs for weeks! ::gasp!:: But if it fixes the problem, then it would be worth it.
I haven't had any problem
I haven't had any problem with any of mine so far, but will give it another test when I can. I agree double sided ones aren't the best idea. And I have a dvd from another collection (Tenchi) that the third disk plays great on the new DVD drive/burner in my PC, but regular DVD players it keeps locking up part way through. So different players can make a difference.
Just off hand though, I'd probably say it's worth giving a try swapping it at least once. Even if it's common, you might luck out and get a good one. But if turns out it just won't play in your player, even after replacing it, you might have to see if you can test it on other players.
It kind of works
Thanks for the response!
After a lot of frustration with the player locking up, I managed to get past the bad part, and the rest of the disk plays fine, so just that one episode has trouble. I decided to try and see if it was just the disk acting up, or maybe my player, so I copied the files to my computer to see if it would make a difference if they were played from my harddrive. However, there was one file that simply wouldn't copy because of a file error, so I think maybe that file got corrupted when the disk was burned at the factory. I guess I'll try exchanging the DVDs, but I sure hope they have a quick turn around time. I don't want to be without Tiny Toons for too long. My sanity may suffer.
I'd recognize this place anywhere!
Yeah sounds like a bad disk!
Yeah sounds like a bad disk! I had a problem like that on a dvd I rented. One episode just would lock up or jump ahead a couple of chapters somewhere in the middle. Upon looking very closely at the disk and how things reflected off the data side, I could see one spot where it had a defect, and the reflected images had a kind of distortion to them right at that spot. So of course the player couldn't read that spot.
Since it was a rental I just had them replace it and the new one worked perfectly fine. So in that case it was just an individual manufacturing flaw.
