Framwinkle

Well, this place seems a little slow if the last introduction was over a year ago. But I'll add mine anyway.

Online I'm commonly known as Framwinkle. The name comes from the Disney cartoon Chip an' Dale Rescue Rangers, and refers to an unknown, off screen device Gadget mentions in the episode "Does Pavlov Ring A Bell", which she calls a "....left-hinged framwinkle," with a "battery driven oscillator...." I've been a fairly active member of the Rescue Rangers fan community for almost as long as I've had internet, since 1998. However, Rescue Rangers certainly isn't the only cartoon I like. I'm still a big fan of Animaniacs, and Tiny Toons is definitely up there on the list.

With the recent release of the TTA DVDs I finally remembered just how much I liked the show, so my passion for it has been rekindled. I might even like it more than RR and Animaniacs, especially because of Babs. She's by far my favorite character. She's even inspired me to try drawing again, something I haven't done since 1993, so that's saying something.

Ever since I got the DVDs, I've been sort of looking for the Tiny Toons fandom, and failing. Maybe I've been spoiled by the RR fandom, but I'm used to a very active community with a large forum, and I couldn't find one. I tried the forums at Toonzone.net, but they cover all of Warner Brothers animation, not just Tiny Toons, and even then seem to be pretty slow. Since I've only been here a day yet, I'm still not sure just what this place is like. Aparently the forum isn't the main focus. But I'm still hoping I'll like it here, and be able to meet other Tiny Toons fans.

Also, if anyone is interested in seeing my webpage, such as it is, you can find it here:

Howdy hi!

Hey there! Nice to have ya' aboard! Babs is definitely my fav as well. :-) And I'm a big fan of RR (I have the first two DVD box sets of that too), and really like Gadget on there. Out of all toons, she's probably my second most fav, after Babs.

Yeah unfortunately the forums here aren't too used, but we do get regular art and stories, and are now the new home of the TTA Fan Fiction Archive, because AOL has shut down their member web pages. Still in the process of converting that all over though.

So not a bad place look for and share your own content here, but if you're looking for where most of the TTA fans hang out and chat, you're probably looking for the TTA Fan Fiction mailing list. You can get info for it and sign up at:

http://www.acmelabs.com/mailman/listinfo/tta-fanfic

I should put that on the Links page too.

And despite its name, there's a lot of general TTA and some OT chat there too.

So enjoy, and I hope you feel free to share your work here as well!

Conventions

Oh and just an added comment. As far as off-line goes, a good number of us go to an annual convention called Anthrocon. And a few of us will be at a smaller one called Midwest FurFest, which the next one is just next week.

Re: Conventions

I don't have the time or money to go to conventions, and would probably choose a sci-fi or anime convention first if I could go. Also, I'm not really a social person in real life. Typing is much more comfortable.

A mailing list, huh? Ick. I hate trying to hold conversations with multiple people through e-mail. I may have to try it, though. Thanks for the info.

I'd recognize this place anywhere!

Oh yeah, quite

Oh yeah, quite understandable. Most people don't get to go to the cons. These ones are nice as they are a lot more art based, and many of the artists of the group go and just hang out and we share art and it's a very social kinda get together even for the non-artists.

And as for the mailing list, fortunately it's not too busy, so it's actually kinda nice, and very friendly.

Interesting...

As far as the conventions Squirrelly, given if I have the money, I'm definitely down to go! Do people cos-play as animaniacs, TTA etc at those you mentioned? It sounds interesting enough...

And Framwinkle, what's up? I like the way you came up with the name. Man, I need to get back into RR, I use'ta be so big on them, every single day as a kid! I've been revisiting so many ol' favorites, they'll definitely come back around no doubt. Lately I've been on Earthworm Jim and Mighty Max, definitely lovin' those. And, its funny how in some cases you don't appreciate'em enough until they aren't seen on T.V at all anymore lol. (gotta love the net for its uses) Oh, about the anti-social thing, I say, if opportunity comes, you should hang out with people you have things in common with. Hey, I'm half anti-social myself (heh, actually I'm forced into it) but, come on, ya gotta get out there sometimes, or you might miss out- but that's just the opinion of a guy who occasionally rants on in toony banter (like a certain Warner Brother) and how can you take THAT seriously LoL.

Anyways, given I have ALL the writiing skill but NO drawing skill, I hope you could do some fan art for me sometime, real imaginative stuff I'm talkin' here Framwinkle. Until then...

Oh, check this this out guys: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206512/board/flat/111619468?p=1
A thread I made, funny and informative blend. I actually have some snippets of one of my fan-fic's quotes at the end of the ending posts. Don't ask why, creativity waits for no one! If you have an account on imdb, add what'cha think.

Lata!

Cos-play

There are a number of "fursuiters" but not so many TTA or A! ones out there. There's a nice Fifi one, and Babs used to have a Babs one but not anymore. However of course there are a number of personas/fursonas that are or are related to various WB and other characters. For reference, here are some photos from Anthrocon 2008.
